Summary

Revenge。

Raised to be my father’s weapon against the Coven that took away his sister and his birthright, I would do anything to protect my younger brother from suffering the same fate。 My duty forces me to the secret town of Crystal Hollow and the prestigious Hollow’s Grove University—where the best and brightest of my kind learn to practice their magic free from human judgment。

There are no whispered words here。 No condemnation for the blood that flows through my veins。 The only animosity I face comes from the beautiful and infuriating Headmaster, Alaric Grayson Thorne, a man who despises me just as much as I loathe him and everything he stands for。

But that doesn’t mean secrets don’t threaten to tear the school in two。 No one talks about the bloody massacre that forced it to close decades prior, only the opportunity it can afford to those fortunate enough to attend。

Because for the first time in fifty years, the Coven will open its wards to the Thirteen。

Thirteen promising students destined to change the world。

If the ghosts of Hollow’s Groves’ victims don’t kill them first。

I think this is going to be a DNF for me 😬 (35%)The premise is interesting and it started off so promising, but the chemistry between FMC and MMC seemed really forced and once I learned he was to be her teacher if just made me feel all around icky (I was hoping headmaster was like an empty honorific)。 The writing is sooo focused on repeating I guess what the author feels are important points that the pacing is really awful。 This should’ve been a breezy read and it wasn’t

Another amazing book by Harper!! Fairly early on I figured out who Grey would be but I still loved everything that happened。 The story and world building was well done。 The concept I think is very interesting I am completely fascinated by it! I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I couldn't finish the book。 I liked how it started but then I found weird how the relationship between the main characters was developed so I stopped caring about them。 I couldn't finish the book。 I liked how it started but then I found weird how the relationship between the main characters was developed so I stopped caring about them。 。。。more

Actually enjoyed this one。 Read it in almost a single sitting since I was waiting for a flight all day。 The only thing it could have used more of was a little more in depth about some of the “magical creatures” and explain clearer what they are。 Otherwise, I thought the story was pretty decent。 However, the school served almost no purpose haha。 Barely any schooling went on and this is irrelevant, but the MC only ate one time。

Loved this book! That ending was fantastic。 I’m a sucker for “touch her and die” and that theme was so well done in this one。 I read this in one night and could not put it down。 Can not wait to see what happens in book 2。 I’m hoping Gray can redeem himself because the ending was insane。

Absolutely captivating。 I have not yet found a fantasy book I've liked。 This book was SO GOOD。 I loved the curvy, fierce fmc。 The writing was so well done。 The spice was just delivered in just the right amounts, teasing its way through the book。 The plot was absolute 🔥。 The depiction of magic and magical beings was done with such sophistication and felt so natural。 The plot twists at the end 🤯。 I can not wait for August! This book was amazing from start to finish。It had witches, demons, murder mystery and spice, a perfect combination。 Willow is an amazing FMC and I loved the banter between her and Gray。 Gray is just everything you could want, I have no complaints。 The story was interesting from the very start and at no point did I get bored with this book。 I may be dumb and be the only person who didn’t see the ending coming but I was shocked。 I loved this book

★★★★★ - 🌶️🌶️Are you kidding me?! I have to wait for the second book after a ending like that?? Life is not fair! But seriously, was an emotional roller coaster that I am still reeling from。 Couldn’t put it down until I finished (staying up way past my bedtime on a work night) and my feelings are everywhere, let me tell you…。 🥲😫

4。5 / 5 ⭐️WHAT THE ACTUAL WHAT?!?? The ending was not how I expected this book to go。 I will say that the built up to the book was slow but when it hit around 60% it really began to pick up。 If you love fantasy with dark academia and spice, then this book might be up your alley。 “What happens when I’m tired of fighting?”“Then you let me do it for you。”

Rating: 2/5 stars ⭐️🌶️With everyone and their granny’s receiving PR boxes for this release, I was expecting big things! I love anything vampires and this author has captivated me with their Flesh and Bones series so, naturally, I had high expectations for this book。They were not met。The book reads like a wattpad story and Willow is so "not like other girls" that becomes annoying very quickly。 I don't mind the villain getting the girl and the main character actually having a personality, but there's got to be a way of having that without making them be so cartoonish。The whole thing was a 2。5 stars read but the cli I love anything vampires and this author has captivated me with their Flesh and Bones series so, naturally, I had high expectations for this book。They were not met。The book reads like a wattpad story and Willow is so "not like other girls" that becomes annoying very quickly。 I don't mind the villain getting the girl and the main character actually having a personality, but there's got to be a way of having that without making them be so cartoonish。The whole thing was a 2。5 stars read but the cliffhanger was interesting enough to make me wanna continue with the second book, so I bumped it up to 3 stars。 。。。more

I feel ✨ compelled✨to write a review — see what I did there? From page one I wad hooked onto this story。 Willow is an interesting FMC because she’s so set on a quest that is vague at best — return power to her family line。 And Gray? Gimme a break: from the moment those two met? 💥💥💥The ending was like WTF? I’ll let the other reviews state the tropes, it it’s everything everyone says and more! I look forward to the sequel。

5🌟!Okay, I just want to start off with saying I think I would’ve given this book 4。5 stars if it wasn’t for the ending。 The last 30% of the book really sold me on rounding up and I truly feel like I base most of ratings on how a book ends just as much as it develops。To start off with what bothered me was:1) The instant “love” — the characters didn’t “fall in love” per se, but they had an instant attraction which normally really bothers me in books but I think the author handled it well with the 5🌟!Okay, I just want to start off with saying I think I would’ve given this book 4。5 stars if it wasn’t for the ending。 The last 30% of the book really sold me on rounding up and I truly feel like I base most of ratings on how a book ends just as much as it develops。To start off with what bothered me was:1) The instant “love” — the characters didn’t “fall in love” per se, but they had an instant attraction which normally really bothers me in books but I think the author handled it well with the banter between our FMC and MMC。2) Some parts really had me going “huh?” Because I didn’t understand what was going on when following certain parts of the FMC’s ancestry— but I think I followed well enough to understand。Besides that, I loved this book down to its core。 The magic in it was like nothing I’ve ever read。 I loved the idea of elemental witches and the take on vampires (vessels)。 It was really refreshing to read something new。The tension building was also delicious。 Like OHMAGAWD- Gray 🥵🧎🏽‍♀️and I can’t wait to see more。BUT THE ENDING is what sold me。 I feel like maybe the last few pages you can start to understand what was going to happen but before that, I truly had no idea where the story was going。 It had me literally yelling and screaming at my kindle and I thought it was perfectly done。 The last few lines in the chapter literally gave me CHILLS and I cannot wait for the next book! Now, does anyone want to take a trip to Salem with me? 😅 。。。more
